Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RateShip.io ("RateShip", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use RateShip.
Service Description
RateShip provides a unified API and dashboard for comparing shipping rates and purchasing labels through your own Shippo, EasyPost, and ShipEngine accounts. RateShip acts as an intermediary. We route requests to your provider accounts but do not process shipping payments or take possession of shipments. All label charges are made directly to your provider account.
Account & Access
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You agree that the information you provide is accurate and current.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password or API key with others.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized it.
Programmatic API access is restricted to Pro plan subscribers. Free plan users can access the dashboard with usage limits but cannot generate API keys.
Provider Keys & Compliance
You are solely responsible for your own compliance with each shipping provider's terms of service (Shippo, EasyPost, ShipEngine). RateShip is not a party to those agreements.
RateShip stores your provider API keys encrypted at rest but does not assume liability for how you use those provider accounts.
You represent that you have the right to use the API keys you provide to RateShip and that doing so does not violate any third-party agreement.
Billing & Subscription
New accounts start on the Free plan with usage limits (100 rate requests/month, 10 labels/month). No credit card is required.
Pro plan: $5/month, billed monthly. Prices are subject to change with advance notice.
Free plan accounts are never locked. You can upgrade to Pro at any time for unlimited access and API key generation.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your billing portal. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
We do not offer refunds for partial months or unused portions of a billing period.
Label Purchases
When you purchase a shipping label through RateShip, the charge is made directly to your provider account (Shippo, EasyPost, or ShipEngine). RateShip does not charge any per-label fees.
RateShip is not responsible for label accuracy, delivery times, delivery failures, or disputes. Those matters are between you and your shipping provider.
Label purchase history is logged in your RateShip account for your reference.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use RateShip to violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights.
Attempt to access other users' accounts, data, or provider keys.
Abuse the API through excessive automated requests, scraping, or any usage pattern that places unreasonable load on the service or third party providers.
Resell or sublicense access to RateShip or its API without written permission from us.
No Guarantees
Shipping rates returned by RateShip are sourced from third-party providers and may change at any time without notice. RateShip does not guarantee rate accuracy, delivery time estimates, or label availability. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
RateShip's total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service is limited to the total amount you paid to RateShip in the 12 months prior to the claim.
RateShip is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind.
RateShip is not liable for any actions, errors, or omissions by shipping providers (Shippo, EasyPost, ShipEngine) or by our payment processor.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we determine you have violated these Terms, without prior notice. You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings or by contacting support@rateship.io. Termination does not entitle you to a refund.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of RateShip after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
