RateShip.io ("we", "us", "our") operates the rateship.io platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use RateShip, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that data. By using RateShip, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
Account information: your email address and password.
Provider API keys: your Shippo, EasyPost, and ShipEngine API keys, which you provide voluntarily. These are encrypted at rest before being stored.
Billing information: managed entirely by our payment processor. We never store your credit card number, CVV, or any other payment details.
Label purchase history: provider, carrier, service, price, tracking number, and label URL for labels purchased through RateShip.
Usage data: API key last-used timestamp, to help you track when your key was last active.
How We Use Your Data
To authenticate you and manage your account.
To connect to your shipping provider accounts on your behalf when you request rates or purchase labels.
To process shipping rate requests and label purchases.
To manage your subscription and billing through Stripe.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Data Storage & Security
Provider API keys are encrypted at rest before being stored.
Access controls ensure users can only access their own data.
All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties except as strictly necessary to provide the service: Stripe for billing, and your chosen shipping providers for rate and label requests.
Third-Party Services
RateShip relies on the following third-party services to operate:
A third-party authentication and database provider for account management.
A third-party payment processor for subscription billing.
Shippo, EasyPost, ShipEngine: shipping providers, accessed only using your own API keys.
A third-party hosting provider for application delivery.
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active.
Label purchase history is retained indefinitely.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting support@rateship.io.
Analytics & Tracking
We do not use any analytics or tracking tools. We do not use cookies for tracking purposes. Only essential session cookies required for authentication are set.
Your Rights
You can access, update, or delete your account data at any time.
You can disconnect provider keys at any time from your dashboard.
If you are in the EU, you have rights under GDPR including the right to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
